Japan Trip 2025



MY FIRST JAPAN TRIP
OCTOBER 2025
warning: this post is very long!





AKIHABARA (i stayed here!)
↳ radio kaikan
↳ bookoff
↳ yodobashi akiba (the 8th floor is my special place)
↳ maid cafe! i went to at-home
↳ anime stores (surugaya, kotobukiya, mandarake, lashinban, trader, trader 2, gee store, lammtarra)

food recommendations:
kamimura (秋葉原 鮨 上村). the omakase sushi lunch set was delicious! (~JPY 3900)
marusho ramen (マルショーラーメン) inside yodobashi akiba 8th floor. yummy gyoza!
cure maid cafe. very chill maid cafe. they don't roleplay, and the teas and food was actually good! i don't recommend the desserts though. save those calories for actual good food around akiba/tokyo. plus, right outside the cafe is the gee store.
denny's. hear me out. denny's in japan is phemonenal!




IKEBUKURO

↳ k-books (all of them! yakuza/like a dragon merch can be found in k-books game)

food recommendations:
vegipota tsukemen enji (ベジポタつけ麺えん寺). hands down the best food i had in tokyo.




SHIBUYA
↳ photomatic! photobooth without crazy filters
↳ shibuya 109
↳ shibuya parco (sega store, nintendo, pokemon, capcom, jojo store)
↳ tower records shibuya (fujii kaze signed stuff on permanent display!)

food recommendations:
shu shibuya ten (shu 渋谷店). a relaxing kissaten next to shibuya 109 in case you get overwhelmed.




NAKANO
↳ nakano sunmall
nakano broadway! all the mandarake shops, robot robot, gallery of hakaba, etc. one of my fav places in tokyo! in love with it!

food recommendations:
♡ bar dio (jojo themed bar)
tokyo niboshiya honpo (東京煮干屋本舗) mazesoba!
coffee zingaro. a little hesitant to recommend this because it was mediocre, but the decor is so unique and it's inside nakano broadway.




KICHIJOJI
studio ghibli museum! it was a dream come true.
↳ i left after the trip to the ghibli museum, but i heard there's a good thrifting scene here!

food recommendations:
♡ shirohige's cream puff factory get a catbus cookie!




SHINJUKU
shinjuku is a magical place and is unskippable btw
↳ ikedaya tea store they sell premium matcha!
↳ tower records shinjuku (more fujii kaze stuff)
↳ disk union
↳ shinjuku marui annex
↳ shinjuku marui men
kabukicho (for the yakuza like a dragon vending machine locations: kiryu outside don quijote, majima outside the shinjuku batting center, saejima and daigo are side by side outside of gigo in kabukicho. ichiban's wasn't at the karaoke kan when i went.)

food recommendations:
dagashi bar. a retro showa-era themed snack bar!
niku to tamago (肉とたまご)




ASAKUSA

↳ senso-ji big gates, big bell!

food recommendations:
suzukien matcha gelato 壽々喜園. 7 levels of matcha gelato




ODAIBA
↳ decks tokyo seaside mall
odaiba retro museum a showa-era "museum" (not really - just a place to take photos), so fun!
↳ haikara yokocho. showa-era shopping aisle!
↳ treasure market odaiba test your luck!
ps: i meant to go to divercity, but it was raining so it was skipped

food recommendations:
N/A. i had takoyaki here, but i don't recommend it lol





KYOTO
↳ teramachi dori
↳ nishiki market
↳ sanjusangendo temple
↳ hanamikoji dori
↳ sannenzaka/ninnenzaka
↳ kamo river we ate onigiri by the river at night (below the sanjo bridge). pretty, but it was stinky!
↳ pontocho alley

food recommendations:
gekka bijin (月下美人) literally the best mitarashi dango EVER. i dream about this everyday.
karafuneya (からふね屋) fun parfaits!
gion kinana (祇園きなな) the BEST parfait/kakigori!
ps: i also recommend getting yatsuhashi in kyoto




UJI

food recommendations:
♡ the nakamura tokichi parfait is 100% worth it
todouan (御抹茶処 とどう庵) cozy teahouse!
♡ i went into a ramen shop that gave us the option to sprinkle matcha powder on top of our ramen for a fee. was it stupid? yes. but i tried it. not worth it lol




OSAKA
↳ dotonbori
↳ PARCO ghibli store take a pic with no-face here!
shinsekai! it's like a big carnival!
↳ kasuga arcade

food recommendations:
the kirby cafe! no further comments.
fujiyama (ふじやま) in shinsekai for kushikatsu, doteyaki, okonomiyaki
♡ there are tons of good street food all around dotonbori and shinsekai! follow your heart.




KAWAGUCHIKO
mt fuji panorama glamping! we booked the dome tent and had an unobstructed view of mt fuji!
hotel konansou! this ryokan was the best. the room had a open-air hot tub out on the balcony, kaiseki dinner was served inside the room, and there were bookable private onsens. the breakfast buffet had an amazing selection of food. i highly recommend this!
↳ visited as many souvenir shops as possible! so many unique local finds.

food recommendations:
fujisan yogan kissa LAVE CAFE for the mt fuji cream sodas. there is a gift shop here, too, where you can buy blue curry!




OTHER AREAS
ginza for age.3! i didn't want to go shopping though
shimbashi for the retro cafe (kissa fuji). not worth!
minato for themed afternoon tea inside conrad tokyo! great views! (big ghibli clock nearby!)
takadanobaba for mikado game arcade
tokyo station for the kamen rider store, character goods, tokyo banana, etc.
